Communications Plus is a trusted, multi-award winning B2B provider of telecommunications, running a portion of the O2 Mobile stores in the UK. This includes CCTV security, team management, product sales and customer support.
The Situation
Communications Plus received a data subject access request to supply CCTV video due to an incident in one of their O2 retail stores. DSARs usually have 30 days to respond - this request had less than a week.
6 hours of CCTV footage from a range of cameras needed stripping of personal data.
Communications Plus had no existing technical tools in place and this was their first CCTV DSAR request.
Manually redacting this amount of footage would have easily taken 1-2 weeks of man hours without the right tools and/or expertise to complete the job.
The protection of personal data and compliance for this request was critical - with no room for experimentation; they needed a trusted, automated software they could rely on and get-to-grips with quickly.
The Solution

The Pimloc team took Steven through the software so that he understood how to redact his video and use the system correctly.
Steven had attempted to use other software in the past - but it had required far too much user input: automation of redaction was clearly a more reliable and easier alternative.
The 6 hours of footage were redacted of all personal data - with plenty of time to meet their deadline.
