Large scale automated redaction for 1M+ images
Roelofs
Roelofs is a medium-sized family corporation working in infrastructure in the Netherlands and Belgium. A company of around 295 people, they work across different sectors including traffic control, water management and green energy in both the private market and with governments. The company wants to be able to host captured video on web-based platforms, which requires blurring faces and other personal data to comply with privacy regulations.
The Need
Roelofs had a client in the Dutch government that had 1 million+ images to redact. Collected from an infrafocus survey van, the cameras took pictures every 4 metres for roughly 1500 miles. With a growing number of inquiries about hosting data on a web-based platform, Roelofs also needed to have multiple people able to review and analyse the images collaboratively and securely.
After previously using other programs to manually redact, they needed an efficient solution that could blur license plates and faces seamlessly, whilst still keeping security at the heart of data processing.
The Solution
Secure Redact provided exactly what Roelof’s Consultant Management and Maintenance team needed: an advanced redaction solution with efficient batch processing, automated blurring of faces and licence plates, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Danny Oude Lansink, part of the Consultant Management and Maintenance team explains: “We had contacted multiple companies but Secure Redact was the only one that was able to process that amount of data and do it at a cost that was still acceptable.”
Secure Redact saved significant time and resources compared to manual processing. Thanks to the extremely high accuracy of the solution, it has opened up the potential for securing more contracts for them in the future.
The Response
“Even though we had so many images to process, the software was extremely accurate - it was at least 99% successful.”
“High levels of communication throughout…there was a lot of troubleshooting and stuff to figure out for the first time, but Dillan and other colleagues were great to help with any questions.”
“We previously haven’t had many projects where we’ve needed to blur - with Secure Redact, we should be able to secure more contracts this year.”
