How to remove multiple video redaction tracks all at once with Secure Redact

Secure Redact offers state-of-the-art machine-learning technology allowing you to responsibly handle video data. It’s an automated video redaction software that means you can blur faces and licence plates in video quickly and accurately.

When using Secure Redact, there may be circumstances where you need to un-redact specific individuals. For example, you may be fulfilling a DSAR and need to un-redact the faces of the person making the request or other parties involved. As different tracks can correspond to the same individual, there may be multiple tracks of the same person or object. Additionally, the system may have picked up some false positives which you need to remove. Whatever the case, Secure Redact allows you the ability to easily remove those tracks simultaneously.

In other articles, we’ve covered how to un-blur a specific individual or object and how to remove a track - these are for one individual at a time.

Removing multiple tracks at once means two things:

  1. All the faces and/or objects that had these corresponding orange boxes will be visible in the final redacted video.

  2. All those tracks will be removed from the Tracks panel and the video player and no longer exist.

Secure Redact gives you an easy way of removing multiple tracks at one time. So, how do you do it?

First, find one of the tracks that you want to remove in the Tracks panel, and double click. This will bring up the individual track view for this track, and the corresponding orange box will turn blue in the video player. You can also find the individual track view by right clicking on the corresponding orange box in the video player and selecting “Open track view” from the drop down menu.

In the individual track view, there is a bin button on the right labelled “Remove similar” when you hover on it. Click this button and a display screen with all the similar-looking tracks to the one selected will appear. You can also do this by right clicking on the corresponding orange box in the video player and selecting “Remove similar tracks” from the drop down menu.

Secure Redact will show you the top 50 similar redaction boxes at one time.

From here, you’ll notice that all the similar looking tracks have already been selected for removal. This is shown by a red border around each thumbnail with a bin icon in each bottom right hand corner.

You can scroll through the list and unselect the tracks you want to keep - i.e. unselecting a track from this panel means the individual / object will stay redacted in the video. When you deselect a track, the red border and red bin icon will disappear.

Alternatively you can unselect all of the tracks by clicking the button in the top right corner of this display screen.

Once you are happy with your selection, click “DONE” in the top left corner.  This will remove all of the tracks you selected at the same time, from the Tracks panel, as well as their corresponding orange boxes from the video player.

Remember! - You cannot undo removing similar tracks. If you want re-redact someone, then you have to add a new track.

Now, when you redact and download the final video, those faces/objects will not be blurred.
